From 2005 to 2013, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Hachette Book Group USA, then moving to become the Deputy CEO of Hachette UK until his retirement in December 2015. During his career, Mr. Young served on a number of publishing association boards including serving as Chair of the Association of American Publishers during 2012-13 and as the President of the Book Trade Benevolent Society from 2013-2017. Mr. Young is a board member of Tate Enterprises, Millbank, London, and is the Chairman of Canongate Books Ltd., the Scottish independent publisher.
